Tuesday Oct 24, 2023
Tuesday Oct 24, 2023
In Episode 23 of the Catching Carbon Podcast, we're thrilled to welcome some special guests from Hycamite, a pioneering company at the forefront of the low-carbon energy revolution. Carolina Ahlstrand, Matti Malkamaki, and Niina Gronqvist discuss Hycamite’s groundbreaking work in producing low carbon hydrogen and other sustainable carbon products.
But what sets them apart is their innovative approach to turning carbon emissions into usable resources. Hycamite's process can be carbon negative under certain circumstances. How, you ask? Well, our guests will reveal that this transformational alchemy becomes a reality when they source methane from biogas or synthetic methane created by capturing atmospheric carbon. Join our hosts as they dive deep into a conversation with Hycamite's experts to explore the world of carbon transformation.
Hycamite's unique process involves the decomposition of methane into its elemental components - hydrogen and carbon. The magic lies in the fact that both of these components are produced in forms readily usable by various industries.

Diamonds from thin air?
Catching Carbon welcomes Dan Wojno, founder and COO of Aether Diamonds to discuss the revolutionary technology they are utilizing to grow diamonds. Aether diamonds are created with 100% atmospheric carbon dioxide. Direct air capture technology is used to extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, setting the proprietary methanation process into motion. The concept is amazing... taking something harmful and abundant and turning it into something rare and beautiful. Aether has managed to create lab-grown diamonds (LGD) that are physically and chemically undistinguishable with those that are extracted from the earth. Yet another new application for captured CO2!
