CO2 Sequestration in Water Treatment

CO2 can be utilized in water treatment? Absolutely. As carbon capture becomes more viable, the space will flood with users looking to take advantage of the 45Q tax credit for sequestration and use. With geography often playing a limiting factor to underground sequestration, new methods will need to be identified. Although not widely known, water treatment has long been an outlet for CO2 utilization and sequestration. As a controlling agent for pH, CO2 can replace dangerous acids in the water process.
