Diamonds from thin air?
Catching Carbon welcomes Dan Wojno, founder and COO of Aether Diamonds to discuss the revolutionary technology they are utilizing to grow diamonds. Aether diamonds are created with 100% atmospheric carbon dioxide. Direct air capture technology is used to extract carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, setting the proprietary methanation process into motion. The concept is amazing... taking something harmful and abundant and turning it into something rare and beautiful. Aether has managed to create lab-grown diamonds (LGD) that are physically and chemically undistinguishable with those that are extracted from the earth. Yet another new application for captured CO2!

NYC Carbon Capture w/ Carbon Quest
Tuesday Mar 28, 2023
Tuesday Mar 28, 2023
This week Catching Carbon welcomes, Brian Asparro, COO of Carbon Quest, to discuss the progress of their mission to decarbonize real estate. Large commercial and residential buildings are leading emitters in metropolitan areas, accounting for over 70% of all CO2 produced. Carbon Quest is currently the only building decarbonization technology addressing heating-based emissions, with a cost-effective, space-friendly, and non-disruptive solution for CO2 emission reduction and carbon removal. By leveraging their technology and key relationships, Carbon Quest has successful installs in New York City with one of the country’s largest real estate developers. Learn from Brian to better understand the drivers for building owners, path to widespread adoption, and the future of real-estate based carbon capture.

CI Score Expert: Dr. Steffen Mueller
Thursday Mar 16, 2023
Thursday Mar 16, 2023
The CC Crew welcomes Dr. Steffen Mueller, Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago! Dr. Mueller has an extensive background in lifecycle modeling of energy systems. Dr. Mueller discusses how Carbon Intensity (CI) scoring works, who it applies to, and the implications of a favorable score. At detail, the conversation focuses on the ethanol industry, both domestically and globally, and how CO2 is key to accessing markets regulated by a low carbon fuel standard.
CO2 sequestration improves a carbon intensity score... so, what does this mean for CO2 currently being supplied to the existing users in the market? You’ll have to listen to find out!

Undressing Carbon Capture
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Wednesday Feb 22, 2023
Tune in to this week’s episode as we welcome special guest, Al Hamilton, to join the conversation on Carbon Capture.
Co2 capture may be today’s hot topic, but reading about it on the front page of the paper does not translate to a true understanding of this process. In this episode, the Catching Carbon team comes in at a high level to describe how the CO2 capture and purification process really works. What technologies exist, where do we capture from, and how to we get to a usable product? Give this episode a listen if you’d like to digest enough to be dangerous on the topic, and see where the future of CO2 capture is headed.

Playing it Safe with CO2
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
Tuesday Jan 10, 2023
Catching Carbon went on the road and met with CO2 Meter’s Executive Vice President, Josh Pringle. In this episode, we discuss in detail best practices in safety protocols when dealing with CO2. With CO2 often being a secondary thought in the markets it is used, we highlight how operators of all kinds can benefit from utilizing detection to heavily reduce the risk of oxygen displacement. Safety is always the number one priority and educators like CO2 Meter keep it at the forefront.

CO2 Pipeline with Jim Mullin
Tuesday Nov 22, 2022
Tuesday Nov 22, 2022
Episode 13 is certain to bring some desired clarity to everyone wondering how the installation of a CO2 pipeline will impact supply. Jim Mullin of Navigator CO2 shares some incredibly educational bits of information surrounding the future plans of what will be one of the largest CO2 pipelines in North America. Jim discusses pipeline footprint, access, timeline, and function. The pipeline will serve the dual function of both sequestering CO2 into certified wells and providing offtake for alternative use. With new uses of CO2 surfacing in applications like e-fuels, the need of CO2 will be plentiful. The pipeline will be uniquely positioned to help end users achieve climate goals, and create supply for the uptick in demand of CO2 for new and existing applications.
